Aside from differences in controller handling, drift inputs, and the speed modulation from boosting off the starting line, the remaining functionality of the arcade game mode is accessible and playable using F-Zero GX's ROM. Unique elements of each game (such as modes, menus, and some features) could then be enabled for the correct platform. The actual game assets are often times identical. The arcade hardware that F-Zero AX runs off of (named Triforce) is nearly identical to the GameCube's hardware.į-Zero AX and F-Zero GX were therefore developed using the same code base as it could target either platform with relative ease. While these games are 2 separate and unique products, their development is shared. The names designated the intended platform. The 'A' is for Arcade, the 'G' is for GameCube.
